About Mason Romero

My name is Mason Romero (born August 5th, 1997),and I am a guitarist and student that goes to Bonita High School. After high school, I plan to go on to Mt. San Antonio College to further pursue a career in music or venture into the world of video journalism. For my senior year English class, I took Mr. Eichen's Digital English class with other students such as reveles and justus, in order to gain more insight on how computers have evolved enough to work for certain classes that have been a standard at schools all over the world. The concept of the class is that every student brings in their own devices and utilizes the Google Classroom app to pick up and turn in assignments.

Romero's PACE

For my senior research paper, I decided to study the effects of music therapy on different types of patients focusing on individuals with autism, depression, or dementia. In order to accomplish this, I decided to volunteer at Hillcrest Retirement Community to get more insight on how the therapy works on elderly people that suffer from dementia or other cognitive problems that started to plague them throughout their life time. My whole PACE experience is documented on the website [1]

Project

I volunteered at Hillcrest Retirement Community to further study patients suffering from dementia. Three days of the week,I would go to Hillcrest's Woods and South Woods facilities to provide music for patients that may have needed it. The music was put on iPods and given to the patients with the selection of music being based on the individual's personal preference of music before they started showing signs of dementia.

Paper

For my paper, I decided to write about the positive effects that music therapy have had on patients in the past. The paper takes multiple studies from experts that show different cases in where music therapy has proved to be successful. The patients range from autistic children, depressed people, and anyone that is suffering or has suffered from dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
