About Me

For my senior year, I took a class called Digital English. Just like any other english, we read a book, work on improving vocabulary, and work on senior project. However, we do all of this on the computer, with no paper involved. Our senior portfolios are on a website instead of in a binder, which can be found here. We are also learning to code Wiki's, for example check out Lorey or Mumford, two other people in my class learning to code.

My PACE

My senior project is based on music. For my hours, I took a music theory class at citrus, and I wrote my paper on the music industry and how it has been affected by recent technology. I'm very interested in music as a hobby but also as a serious career path and I was very eager to learn as much as possible by doing my senior project on a subject I am excited about. Project

I took a class at Citrus College on music theory. It is one of the prerequisites to their esteemed Recording Arts Program. I really enjoyed this class because I have stayed on the technology side of the industry as I have learned, and it was extremely helpful to me to start learning about the musical side. It will be vital in the future for me to know both sides of the industry and this class has helped me become more rounded in the trade. This is not the end of my study of music theory and I hope to learn much more in the future.

Paper

For my paper I wrote about the effects of modern technology, primarily the internet, on the music industry in recent years. A lot of focus was put on the rise of streaming services and the fight against piracy. Running counter to the rise of these services has been the downfall of physical records and the companies that produce them. It was a very insightful study as it put the musical age I am growing up in into perspective, and gave me the history behind the music industry and how even with new a changing technologies, some things within the industry will never change.
