The best example of commitment that comes to mind for me in my high school experience is playing in the marching band. This particular activity demands a lot of time, energy, patience, and skill to achieve. Being in the marching band has also taught me a lot about balancing out schoolwork and other activities as well.

Playing in the marching band requires an intense amount of commitment. In the summer before school starts we have two weeks of band camp, which is where we start learning our show. Once school has started then we have Monday and Thursday night rehearsals as well as Friday night football games here on campus. There also many weekend dates for our competitions as well, and that continues for many weeks on end. All of these activities take place in the summer and fall season, and it can be very difficult to keep up with everything, but it is very much worth it in the end.

While the level of commitment for being in the marching band can be very difficult to maintain, it is certainly a worthy task. Through this commitment many friendships are made, and that's something a price can't be put on. This commitment has also helped me grow a lot in learning to balance everything, and in many other ways as well such leadership, and even improving my skills as a sousaphone player as well.
